Job Description:
Mac Guff is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Research an Development team in Paris which is responsible of the company's proprietary lighting software. Talented and motivated, your mission will be challenging, creative, fast-paced, and intellectually stimulating. Responsibilities :
Developing new systems,
Maintaining existing tools,
Supporting artists in their production tasks.
Interacting closely with 3D animation artists and technical users
Helping to establish the direction of development for these tools.
Detail oriented and good communication skills are essential.
Requirements :
M.S . in Computer Science along with 2-3 years professional experience.
Expert in C++
Experience / knowledge of rendering algorithms and multi-threaded development
Experience with large-scale object oriented software design and architecture.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python
Experience with parallel debugging and tuning tools
IDE Eclipse under Linux would be a plus.
Technical Director Lighting/Shading

Mac Guff is seeking a skilled Technical Director to maintain and upgrade its 3D animated feature pipeline. The applicant will be working with the creative team and the R+D team in order to relieve both artists andengineers of redundant tasks and problems, so they can focus on their main goal: enhancing the artistic quality of images. This position is specially dedicated to the lighting and rendering workflow. The applicant will also work among the TD team to consolidate new methods
and ways of streamlining processes, which might imply documentation and tutoring work.
Requirements:
Skilled user familiar with rendering softwares such as RenderMan or MentalRay with a good comprehension of the whole lighting process (including global illumination, point base rendering, stereoscopic common issues, handling EXR multilayers...). Our render is an in-house ray tracing software used in combination with a Nuke compositing pipeline.
Knowledge of Nuke is a plus.
Ability to develop basic scripts and tools using Python PL.
Quick learning of new tools.
Good analysis of processes and anticipation of problems in the whole pipeline.
Focused on solving the problem rather than developing a software suite.
Must be strongly motivated in helping artists in distress.
Cross-functionnaly supportive.
Well-organized and good communicator.
Strong team player.
Technical Director NUKE

Skilled user familiar with Nuke with a good comprehension of the whole compositing process (stereoscopic common issues, handling EXR multilayers...). The layers are generated using our in-house ray tracer.
Knowledge of the lighting and rendering workflow is a plus.
Ability to develop basic scripts and tools using Python PL and Nuke plugins and gizmos.
